Animal Aid Foundation Grants established in Ontario in 2006
Purpose
The Foundation’s mission is to address the issue of animal overpopulation and homeless pets. The Foundation achieves its mission by funding the spay/neuter programs of local animal charities.
Funding Interests
In order to reduce the number of animals being euthanized each year, Animal Aid focuses its funding on TNR (trap, neuter, release) and spay/neuter programs and projects.
Types of Support
The Foundation is committed to funding programs and projects that deliver high impact, that are in urgent need of funding from a priority basis, not a financial need and that have a high potential for success. Our policy is to seek out organizations and programs with a well-defined sense of purpose, demonstrated commitment to making the best use of available resources and a reputation for accomplishing their objectives.
Charities that qualify can apply for a grant of up to 5% of their annual operating budget or a maximum of $5,000.
Funding Criteria
Organizations must hold charitable registration status with Canada Revenue Agency and must have completed one full year of operation and have filed their annual return for a full 12 month period. Animal Aid Foundation is prohibited from awarding grants to organizations that do not have a registered charity number.
Priority Funding Consideration
Priority funding consideration is given to charities who are 100% volunteer run. The Foundation is also committed to investing money back into the communities where the money is being raised. Because funding is based on annual revenues which may come from different geographic areas and fluctuate from year to year, it is not always possible for the Foundation to fund all worthwhile applications.
Funding Restrictions
Grants are provided for spaying/neutering of companion animals. Grants will not be made for capital funds, building funds, emergency funds, food or other supplies, computers and technology, conferences or seminars, deficit financing, endowment funds, matching funds, fellowships, scholarships or bursaries, seed money or to individuals. Grants are only available to organizations that hold registered charitable status.
Conditions
Grant applicants must qualify for funding. Qualified applicants will be invited to complete a grant application. If your grant application is successful, your organization must sign a Letter of Agreement which outlines the terms of the grant before monies will be disbursed and submit a Grant Report outlining how the grant monies were spent by the end of the calendar year in which the grant was given.
Grant Applications
Animal charities must qualify for funding before being invited to complete a Grant Application. Grant applications are available from September 30th until December 30th annually. Completed applications are due into the Foundation by January 31st annually. Late applications and/or applications without supporting documents will not be considered. Securing an Animal Aid grant does not necessarily indicate that continued support will be available in the future. Animal Aid Foundation does not pledge commitments to future grants.
Application Procedure
If your organization is interested in applying for an Animal Aid grant, please contact us in September to start the process. Animal Aid receives many inquiries for funding each year.
